November 9, 2009 Recap & Highlights

Hundreds of rabid, screaming fans were ready to party as George hit the stage for the very first episode of "Lopez Tonight." George opened the show with what he does best -- some killer standup.

Then, Ellen DeGeneres -- apparently awakened by the loud party next-door -- made a surprise visit to drop off George's mail, which was accidentally delivered to her and included a really embarrassing personal item.

Next up was the audience game that everyone will be talking about.

Afterwards, George welcomed an "allegedly" blonde Eva Longoria Parker. After the two friends caught up, George convinced Eva to make good on a promise she made during the "Lopez Tonight" pilot... to dance on a stripper pole. And Eva wasn't the only one to work the pole...

Next up was Kobe Bryant, who explained why his trash-talking skills are a cut above the rest of the NBA. George opened the floor to audience questions, which included an ambush from teammate Derek Fisher, who totally stumped Kobe with his question.

The show closed with a mind-blowing performance of "Oye Como Va" and "The World is Rated X" by rock legend Carlos Santana (or as George calls him: "The Supernatural").

dude, eva longoria struck out with that wig., she looked "faked". but having carlos santana at the end of the show was a home run. i love the monologue. a mix of spanish and english is refreshing and very funny. you have to be quick to get the jokes. my husband and i saw you at the warfield in san francisco a couple of years ago and back then i was thinking it would be nice to see you on late night tv. my dream has come true i was trying to figure out why i had stopped watching late night and now i know why. we needed color, flavor, spice, pasion, calor, and you(hot mexican).VIVA LA RAZA!!!!!

Let me tell you how I stopped watching night shows…

The day Latinos missed work to voice their opinion about immigration the next day DAVID LETTERMAN made a comment that made my stomach turn:
He said in his monologue “isn’t it a beautiful day today? And it would be more beautiful if Latinos decide not to show up today either”

I just don’t understand how a low quality human such as David get to have a talk show.

On that note George Lopez let me tell you that you are very funny and witty however do pay attention on respecting other cultures...remember what we are all about, Love and respect and calor humano

Hi George I'm truly enjoying your shows' you have the gift of telling the truth in the beauty of light of many colors my brother. I am a bro. of light that plays guitar and have been over 40 years now; after hearing Santana for the first time in 1969-70 I were inspired for life; everyone says we sound so much alike.I only have seen him live one time in my life; in Orlando Fla.It would mean the world to me to meet him face to face and to play with him;everyone says we look alike and were mistaking for him at TD Waterhouse in Orlando Florida and I would love to tell him my story and how his music and life has inspired me.Thank you George now you know my favorite part.Your brother of heart and hands.
