Selena Gomez's Silent Interview

Selena lost her voice right before the show, so George "talks" to her (with the help of a DynaVox) about her new film, "Ramona & Beezus," and gives her a special gift for her eighteenth birthday.

Have you ever lost your voice when you really needed it? Tell us about it in the comments.

Such a great display of celebrity adaptation to a physical disability that many special needs groups can identify with.

Thank you for championing the mainstream awareness & pushing thru your own personal barrier relative to "lack of speech".

Your perseverence gives strength to your character & a great role model to children with or around disabilities.

God bless!

My daughter (14 years old) uses a communication device like Selena used. She saw her new movie last weekend and now she is so excited to have something in common with her. Thanks for showing the world that people without voices can talk just fine.

I love my Selena! I love her! I don't just like her because she's famous, I also like her for who she is.

This isn't a silent interview - she's chatting perfectly well with the DynaVox. And George is talking, not "talking." His voice wasn't gone, hers was!

My brother used to use a DV, until he changed brands to one that fit his needs better. These are such important devices for people who can't use typical speech. Nice to see it demonstrated in the "mainstream," so to speak.
